Drop-In Choir

Daytime Drop-In Choir – Want to sing? Come drop-in any Friday morning!

We’re back on Friday, September 9, 2022.  We’re staying at our east-end location for the 2022-2023 season to allow for more social distancing and a high ceiling, making this as safe an experience as we can offer.  The group is only open to those who are fully vaccinated (proof of vaccination will be required, and yes that means you’ve had a shot within the last six months, so get your booster if you need to) and for now we will be singing while wearing well-fitted masks – but, hey, we’re singing together!

If you’re just looking for a place to sing – no matter your skill level – come try out Cheryl’s Daytime  Drop-In Choir to get a bit more singing and to let your voice soar.  The group will rehearse in the main sanctuary of St. Augustine’s Anglican Church, where we’ve been able to rent space, thanks in part to Sound Opportunity Friends Association.  The Drop-In Choir was originally founded by A Joyful Noise Artistic Director, Eva Bostrand.  Cheryl Balay took over the operations of the Drop-In since the fall of 2016.

With professional instruction and accompaniment, this group sings for 90 minutes a week exploring transferable choral skills, strengthening good vocal technique, discovering new repertoire with a healthy dose of supported sight-singing and just having fun singing and learning.  There are no performances and no ongoing commitments.  Be present in the moment. Sing away your stress.  It’s a drop-in experience – the choral equivalent of a pond-hockey pick-up game where everyone is welcome.

Your first session is free, so come try us out!  Then it’s an annual $50 administration fee plus $10 per drop-in session.

Rehearsals run from September through April with a short break over Christmas holidays.
